Homeownership, man.
I love it. And it annoys me.
Don't get me wrong, I knew it came with extra costs that renting doesn't and I don't regret buying.

This week I will be learning how to replace water heater elements because my water heater keeps tripping. I also think this is the cause of our insane electric bill. I am going to just replace the elements for now because it should only run me about $30 for everything I need. But I am now making plans to replace the entire tank with a newer more energy efficient tank.

This is where the annoyance of homeownership comes in, I keep finding new things to be replaced or upgraded! I don't know what to do first and I don't have the money to do anything!

Actually I think the water heater should be number one.

After the water heater, I think maybe the windows might be next. I am pretty sure they are the original windows which means I can buy windows that will be more energy efficient. Windows and then doors. Well maybe doors, than windows. Only so I can get doors that have animal doors installed on them.

Water heater.
Bathtub/bathroom sink.
Kitchen appliances.
Kitchen cabinets/sink.
Washer and dryer.

That's not a lot but it is expensive! Especially because I totally plan to get what I want and not settle because of cost. I will be living here forever, and I am going to have nice things that will last.

Oh, hey. So we have been living in our own house for a month now. It's fabulous. Our dryer quit working though and so unpacking is at a standstill because clothes, clothes everywhere. but we are mostly unpacked. I need bookshelves.

We are buying a van this week. Our tax return was much less because of all the overtime Jason did put him over the EIC income limit by like $1000, so we have to finance a majority of the van, but the payment isn't too bad and I am hoping that in 6 months or so we can refinance and get it even lower.
I kind of wish I could find a job that I could work at just until the van/student loan was paid off and our savings built back up. Even though I know that isn't feasible with Jason's schedule/daycare costs. I also kind of wish that my aunt had not taken over helping my mom clean because now I am missing out on $80 a week. eh, whatever, I will figure something out.

My mom has to have both kidney's removed. We knew this would come one day, she has PKD. It sucks though, her kidneys are only functioning at 10%. Everyone will be tested to see if anyone is a match. I am nervous and scared.

For those not on Facebook or that may have missed my post, I had a baby!

Henry Alexander Williams was born after about 2 hours of labor on November 06th at 11:03pm.
He came out so fast once I realized he was coming that his head was already out before the nurses and doctor had their gloves on. As my dad said "you said ouch and the baby was here"
Oh yeah, it happened so fast, my dad didn't have time to leave the room, ha. I don't think it was his plan to be there for the actual birthing part.

On the day Henry was born, I was already at the hospital with my mom who was being admitted to the hospital from the ER for an infection in her colon. Around 8pm I realized that I kind of felt "off" and thought it would be a good idea to be checked out before driving myself and Ava all the way home. I was still at 5 cm but as they monitored me, I was in fact having contractions. Around 10 I was checked again and a 6 so my doctor broke my waters. I am still not exactly sure why that was decided, but it kind of happened as I was realizing it was happening. Once my water broke, the contractions really started. I had a really strong contraction and let everyone know, so my SIL took the kids to the waiting room (hospital policy) and then 10 minutes later (which actually seemed much longer to me) I was trying to breath through a contraction and realized that he was coming. I said "I think he is coming!" and saw someone rush from the room and then my body was pushing him out and I said "I think his head is out" and the nurse lifted the blanket and sure enough it was. I could feel everyone panicking and to make things "worse" I was leaning on the bed button raising me up, which only made Henry come faster.

So not a fan at all of this livejournal update. I do not care about popular LJ blogs and for some reason it irritates me that I have to click extra clicks just to get to my friend's page from the main page now.

But seriously, is there anyway to get rid of that horrible main page?

also, just realized that they also got rid of the "recent comments" that was at the top of the page. I REALLY LIKED THAT FEATURE. I liked that it was in my face and I didn't have to search for it.

I miss when livejournal was updated constantly.

I applied for FAFSA today. If approved, I am going to start taking classes at the community center towards an Associates degree in Art with hopefully a Letter of Recognition in Art History. I figure this can hopefully allow me to either pursue a job in a museum, or as a teacher (either elementary art or art history) First step is getting my core classes out of the way and then going from there.

I also signed up for a free watercolor class and if I can budget it in, ($83 + supplies) I am going to take the month long class. 2 hours every Saturday morning painting. I so need a break like this, and I am really looking forward to it.

and in other news. I think Ava is potty training herself. I randomly stuck the potty chair in the living room and she uses it regularly to not just pee but also poop (sorry non parents who don't care about this, I wanted to document it somewhere and this seems better than facebook. ha) So that is cool. I still put her in a diaper when we are out and I don't plan to push it, but it is nice not having to change her diaper as often!

I picked up the registration packet for Jack to start kindergarten in the fall! It is crazy all the stuff you have to have but I guess it is what it is. I am interested in how he will do though. Kind of nervous, but hoping that maybe in that environment he will be more open to doing things their way and not just his way.
and he has NOT.STOPPED.TALKING. all day. ALL DAY. He is just rambling at me right now.

So I was contacted by a company called Conscious Box asking me if I wanted to host a giveaway on my blog. This is kind of exciting because it is the first time a company contacted me versus me contacting them (or a friend passing on things)
Also, I actually had just entered in a giveaway (which I feel like is probably how they found my blog anyway) and I didn't win, but now I get a box anyway! and it is something that I would honestly try out anyway, so that makes it even better.

anyway, go enter: http://heartshapedleaves.blogspot.com/2013/04/conscious-box-giveaway.html

Oh, so I guess I never came back to let you know we are here in Maryland. We are! We got in around 4:30am on Tuesday. It was such a long drive, mostly because it rained the entire time. The kids did excellent, and rarely complained. They are car riding champs. We were worried about Ava because she has been in the "HATE CAR RIDES" phase for a while, but she slept the majority of the time. When she wasn't sleeping, Jack was cracking her up.

Things are already looking up in the short time we are here. There is plenty of food to eat and the kids are getting a lot of attention from their grandparents. Ava warmed up incredibly fast to my dad and likes hanging out in his little man cave. She has also exploded in her language. Jack seems happier, he has even slept in his grandma's room every night, including the first night we were here and we stayed at a hotel because the room wasn't ready for us to sleep in. Jack, who used to freak out if I simply took a shower, had his first sleep over away from both parents and it was his idea and he did so well. I half expected him to call and want us to come get him, but nope. Amazing.

Ava is so funny, she peed in her potty last night and then ran down the hallway, I PEED, I PEED!

Anyway, so things are going well. The application period for the job Jason applied for ending a few days ago and so we are just waiting to here something on that.

Just a quick update to say that we have the rental truck and will be loading it today and tomorrow. Jason is getting the oil changed in the car right now. I think we will leave Sunday night to give us a chance to visit with his grandmother before we leave.

I am not looking forward to the 26 hour drive, but I am looking forward to being back in Maryland.

I am kind of nervous about driving in Virginia though because I think I have an outstanding ticket. :(
